The Wordless Music Orchestra collaborated with Jonny Greenwood for the U.S. premiere of There Will Be Blood Live: a full screening and live film score to Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2007 masterpiece, which was projected onto a massive 50′ movie screen at the historic and absurdly beautiful United Palace Theatre: the second-largest movie screen in all of New York City.
For these shows, the film’s original score–comprising music by Jonny Greenwood, Arvo Pärt, and Brahms was conducted by Ryan McAdams, and performed by 50+ members of the Wordless Music Orchestra, including Jonny Greenwood, who played the ondes martenot part in both performances of his own film score.
Tara McPherson was honored to create the gig poster for these events.

This limited edition poster by Tara McPherson was created for Punch-Drunk Love, presented by Wordless Music Orchestra in celebration of Paul Thomas Anderson’s cult classic 2002 film. The live orchestral performances featured music by Jon Brion, conducted by Ryan McAdams, and brought the film’s iconic score to the stage alongside a screening of the movie.
The performances took place on March 5, 2016 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, Los Angeles, and on March 19, 2016 at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), New York City.
A standout piece for fans of film, music, and contemporary poster art, this poster bridges cinema history, live performance, and Tara McPherson’s unmistakable visual voice.
